Abu Talib al-Makki reported: Sufyan al-Thawri, may Allah have mercy on him, said,

“I was deprived of the night prayer for five months because of a sin I committed.” It was said, “What was it?” Sufyan said, “I saw a man weeping and I said to myself: This one is showing off.”
